About John Cervantes

John has been a resident of Chino for over 33 years

John began his law enforcement career in 1996 at the San Gabriel Police Department before transferring to the Chino Police Department in 2001. During his tenure, he served as a DARE Officer, School Resource Officer (SRO), and contributed significantly to community programs and safety initiatives.

John spearheaded the development of emergency plans for schools and led educational forums for parents on critical issues such as substance abuse and online safety. He also played a key role in organizing the inaugural Chino Police Department Summer Youth Camp, aimed at mentoring junior high students and promoting leadership. Throughout his 24-year career, John received numerous awards for excellence and bravery, including Officer of the Year in 2010.

John’s greatest success is his family.

He is the son of a Navy Veteran and brother of a retired Police Officer, who is a substitute teacher in the district. A proud resident of Chino for over 33 years, John’s dedication extends beyond law enforcement; his family, deeply rooted in the community, is his greatest success. With his son now an Assistant Principal and his wife’s 20-year tenure with the CVUSD, John’s commitment to service remains steadfast, driven by his love for family and community.
